Finally Garmin introduced the HRM-Pro in September 2020. The HRM-Pro is the ‘top of the line’ and has all the features of the previous heart rate monitors and you van read my full review here. Except that it’s not detachable like the Dual and doesn’t have the grippy strap like the swim. But it does allow stand alone monitoring and
Running Dynamics. You can use your compatible Garmin® device paired with the HRM-Pro™ accessory to provide real-time feedback about your running form. The HRM-Pro has an accelerometer that measures torso movement in order to calculate six running metrics. NOTE: To use the running dynamics features, the HRM-Pro accessory must be paired to
Garmin HRM Dual is the cheapest Garmin strap but it’s perfect for Zwifting. With both unlimited ANT+ connection and 2 concurrent connections in Bluetooth BLE, you can enjoy indoor cycling. It includes HRV monitoring if you are interested. However, the best asset of Garmin HRM dual is its battery life. Running dynamics require a Garmin or a third party watch that is compatible (I don’t believe there are any but is it technically possible). As far as I know there is no way to do this with the Apple Watch, as far as the watch is concerned it is a BLE HRM and nothing more. One thing to consider though is that Running Dynamics is one of those
There are Connect IQ data fields that can connect to an ANT+ HR sensor Yep, here’s one (not mine): Auxiliary Heart Rate v2 I used it to compare my HRM-RUN strap to my 945 LTE’s optical HR during a steady state run; I found that the optical HR lagged a few seconds behind the strap but otherwise the data was pretty much the same (the newer optical sensors are supposed to be a lot better than
To cut a long story short, I eventually ‘fixed’ this by taking the battery out of the HRM Pro for 10 minutes and I shorted the connection between the HRM Pro’s battery terminal (I’d read somewhere in the past, that this is good practice with HRM straps when changing batteries, to get rid of any residual capacitive charge in the sensor).

For me it seems the "battery gauge" of the HRM Pro is bull shit. Mine never showed any pre-warning of an empty battery. The strap just stopped connecting. When I switch the battery, I regulary meassure the tension left in the battery and it is allways way below the nominal 3V.

Since around 4-5 months Garmin Swim 2, when used together with HRM Pro, for open water or pool swimming, would not upload finished activities to Connect (via BT). Actiity history on the phone shows the swim and swimming total for the week includes the activity. However it does not appear in Connect when synchronised.

Yes that will work. Start an activity on the watch and it will record heart rate broadcast from the chest strap. If you don't wear the watch then just keep in close enough to receive the radio signal.…. A dedicated community for Garmin users to ask questions, provide answers, and share feedback. If I buy Garmin HRM dual chest strap, will that pair directly with Garmin Connect? I don't see HRM dual listed in the app as a supported device. Does it always have to come through one of their GPS watches? And then configure Garmin Connect to sync with Strava? My budget is about $100-$150.
